If you are searching for a secure private dog field to hire near Kidderminster, you are in the right place. This guide has been fully updated for 2026 and lists the best dog walking fields in Worcestershire and the West Midlands within easy reach of Kidderminster, including new additions and confirmed closures.
Private hired dog fields have become one of the most popular resources for dog owners in our area, and for very good reason. Whether your dog has poor recall, reacts to other dogs or people, has a strong prey drive that makes public spaces stressful, or you simply want the freedom of a fully enclosed space where you can relax and let your dog run, these fields offer something that public parks and footpaths cannot: complete privacy and security for the duration of your session.
🐾 Would you like professional support alongside your field sessions? Adelaide from The Confident K9 is available to meet clients at selected local fields by prior arrangement for 1:1 dog training and behaviour sessions. If you are working on recall, reactivity, or impulse control and would like expert guidance in a safe, enclosed environment, get in touch to discuss options.
Why do so many dog owners hire private fields?
The dog owners who benefit most from private hired fields tend to fall into one of three groups, and if any of these sounds familiar, you are not alone.
Dogs with poor recall. A dog that will not reliably come back when called cannot safely be let off the lead in a public space. Hired fields give you a fully enclosed environment where your dog can run freely and burn off energy while you work on their recall in a genuinely safe setting. Poor recall is one of the most common issues I see in training, and it is very fixable with the right approach.
Reactive dogs. If your dog barks, lunges, or pulls towards other dogs or people on walks, every trip out can feel like a military operation. A privately hired field means no unexpected encounters, no other dogs charging over, and no strangers approaching uninvited. For reactive dogs, this is not just convenient, it is often transformative. The ability to move freely without constant vigilance gives both dog and owner a chance to decompress, rebuild confidence, and enjoy exercise again.
Dogs with high prey drive. Hounds, terriers, spaniels, and many crosses of these breeds have deeply ingrained hunting and chasing instincts that make off-lead exercise in public spaces genuinely risky. A securely fenced private field means you can let them run without the fear that a squirrel, rabbit, or cyclist will trigger a chase that ends badly. Many owners of these breeds use hired fields as their primary off-lead exercise solution and have no intention of stopping.
If your dog falls into any of these categories and you would like support working on the underlying behaviour alongside using these fields, I offer 1:1 sessions at selected local fields by prior arrangement. Get in touch and we can discuss what would work best for you and your dog.
A note on XL Bullies: Whether a field accepts XL Bullies depends on the individual field owner’s insurance. We have tried to identify which fields are XL Bully friendly in this guide, but please always check directly with the field owner before booking, as policies can change. You may also be asked to provide additional documentation before your session.

Training sessions at your local dog field
If you are regularly hiring a private field because of recall problems, reactivity, or a prey-driven dog, you may find that a few targeted training sessions make an enormous difference to your confidence and your dog’s response, both in the field and eventually in the wider world.
I am available to meet clients at selected local fields by prior arrangement for 1:1 training and behaviour sessions. Working in a familiar, enclosed environment removes one layer of pressure and lets us focus entirely on the specific behaviour we are working on, whether that is recall, impulse control, loose lead walking, or building a calmer response to triggers.
This works particularly well for:
- Dogs with poor or unreliable recall who need a safe space to begin the process
- Reactive dogs whose owners want to practise controlled exposure techniques in a distraction-free setting
- High prey drive dogs such as hounds, terriers, spaniels, and their crosses, where managing chase instinct is the priority
- Owners who feel anxious or unconfident handling their dog in public and want to build skills in a private environment first
Sessions take place within my usual working area around Kidderminster and up to a 15-minute drive. If you are further afield and interested in a field-based session, get in touch and we can discuss whether this is something I can accommodate.

Frequently Asked Questions: Secure Dog Fields Near Kidderminster
Why should I hire a private dog field instead of using a public park?
A private hired field gives you exclusive use of a fully enclosed space for the duration of your session. There are no unexpected off-lead dogs approaching, no cyclists or joggers triggering a reactive response, and no strangers interacting with your dog without permission. For owners of reactive dogs, dogs with poor recall, or high prey drive breeds, this level of control is something a public park simply cannot offer.
Can I bring my XL Bully to a private dog field?
Some fields accept XL Bullies and some do not, depending on the individual owner’s insurance. We have indicated which fields are XL Bully friendly in this guide where we have that information, but policies can change and you should always check directly with the field owner before booking. You may be asked to provide additional documentation such as proof of insurance or neutering status.
How do private dog fields help with recall training?
A fully enclosed field removes the risk of your dog running off while you work on building a stronger recall response. You can practise calling your dog at distance, reward generously when they return, and gradually increase the challenge without the anxiety of working near roads or public spaces. Recall is one of the most rewarding behaviours to train and a hired field is one of the best environments to do it in.
My dog has a strong prey drive. Is a private field safe enough?
Most of the fields listed here have 5 to 6ft fencing which is sufficient for the vast majority of dogs, including most high prey drive breeds. If your dog is a known jumper or climber, check the fence height and construction details for the specific field before booking. Perry Dog Field near Hartlebury has some of the most secure fencing in the area, with small mesh apertures and buried foundations, which makes it a good choice for determined escape artists.
Can I bring a reactive dog to a private hired field?
Yes, and private fields are genuinely one of the best environments for reactive dogs. The exclusive booking means no other dogs will be present, which removes the primary trigger for most reactive responses. Many of my clients use hired fields as part of their overall management plan while we work on the underlying reactivity in sessions. If you would like support combining field use with a structured behaviour programme, get in touch.
Can Adelaide come to a dog field for a training session?
Yes, by prior arrangement. I am available to meet clients at selected local fields for 1:1 training and behaviour sessions. This works particularly well for recall work, reactive dog training, and impulse control with high prey drive dogs. Contact me to discuss availability and which field would work best for your situation.
How much does it cost to hire a private dog field?
Prices vary between fields and session lengths but most charge between £8 and £20 for a 50 to 60-minute session. Check each field’s website or booking platform for current pricing, as rates can change seasonally.
Are there dog fields near Kidderminster open early morning or late evening?
Several fields in this guide offer extended hours including early morning and late evening slots. Canine Capers near Stourport is open from 6am to 9pm daily. Checkhill Farm Dog Field near Kinver is also open from 6am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 5pm in winter. Always check the individual field’s current opening times before booking.
